Comparison:
I have been comparing the differences between The
Times and The Sun. for the front page of The Sun, it is mostly pictures and
adverts, this is because the purpose of The Sun is to entertain their readers. Whereas
The Times has more text than images of the front page because their purpose is
to inform. From the two images, you can see they the two newspapers have some similarities
firstly includes the age range because both newspapers target audience is 65+. Also,
they both have a masthead at the top where their logos are. They also both have
a headline, yet The Suns headline is about someone clamming benefits and The
Times headline is more serious about the attack on Aleppo. Both the newspapers
have similarities yet they also have their differences which are clear to see. From
the two images, you can tell that The Times has articles on the front so they
get straight to the news whereas The Sun has little information on the front
page to bait people to buy the paper.
I have chosen two articles one for The Sun and one from The
Times. Both are these articles are talking about Hilary Clinton. As you can see
The Times (on the right) has a picture which is related to the article and it
has a large photo but also a lot of text supporting it. Whereas The Sun has a
photo of someone with revelling clothes which does not seem to relate to the
article. Also on the article for the Sun it has a humorous title “Rump v Trump”
which is the part of sexualising the presidential elections. also with The Sun article the font is quite large and very limited compared to The Times which has small yet a lot of text. this is because the Times is more informative and more people read it to be informed whereas the Sun is more for people to be entertainned.
