Define the target audience for each paper using appropriate subject terminology
The Times have different types of readers compared
to The Sun. The Times has 1,093,000 readers and the majority of them are 65+
(34.1%). The reason wht the older population may be more likely to read The
Times compared to The Sun is because they may have been bought up around the
newspaper and have bought up reading it. As well as that, they will have a more
mature of thinking and reader so would rather read text overlooking a photos.
Also the over 65's may have a limited supply of technology they use so The
Times may be their only source of information about what is going on. Also the
older generation has been bought up with newspapers around them and also these
statistics are only for the paper copies of the newspaper so there may be
different types of people who read it on over platforms.
There is also information about the social demographics about who reads The Times. The main social demographic group who reads The Times who are ABC1C2 Adults (1006). So the main types of people who are seen to read The Times are:
- Upper Middle Class
- Middle Class

- Skilled Working ClassThis is because it has mixed together the AB, C1 and C2 demographics so the main social class group is AB adults which is Upper Middle Class.
Compared to The Times, The Sun create a lot more newspapers and has over
4 million readers. The age of the readers for The Sun is very diverse as it has
a lot of different people who read the sun, yet the majority of the readers are
65+, yet all the percentages are very similar to each other. This is the same
reason as The Times as the biggest audience is the over 65+’s because they are
the ones who have been bought up with newspapers so are more likely to purchase
the paper copy, compared to the 15-24’s who will be more likely to read a
